Big Mountain Adventures-Peru 2009

WOW! This is the only way to describe the amazing terrain in Peru. Our group of 11 arrived April 28th and we began riding out of Lima for three days. On the second day we did the Olleros Downhill which, begins at the village of Buena Vista and descends 56 kilometers and over 12,000 feet to the Pacific Ocean. This is the largest descent in the world to the Pacific Ocean! Of course I jumped into the Pacific at the end of the day before downing several beers.

We are now in Ollantaytambo and have just finished a 9 hour epic on dirt bikes. Yes this was supposed to be our rest day however Chris Christie, Brent Martin and I decided not to go to Machu Picchu but instead rented XR650 and headed off to the jungle to Santa Marie and discover some amazing hot spring. The roads we narrow, twisty and had steep 2,000 foot drop off’s on either side. It was an epic trip and one I will never forget.

Over the next few days we will venture deep into the Andes to a height of 14,500 feet and ride through some acient Inca Ruins and discover the amazing people of this area. I can’t wait. Little D

You are still inspiring Dave. After 10 years of watching you progress form the best competetive athlete I know to the best recreator I know. Note the word “progression”…from competetor to recreator…thats progress!
