Well the winter is finally over for me here in BC and what and amazing winter with over 5000km of powder heaven of which 2000km I spent on the new 2013 Ski Doo Rev XM! This machine is the easiest, most fun, most radical sled ever produced and next year people are going to go insane over it! I want to thank Ski-Doo, Greater Vancouver PowerSports and all my other amazing sponsors for another awesome winter!

Well as you know there are some changes to the site! That is right this year I am elated to be working with Beta MotorCycles and Mountain Motorcycle for trials and enduro! I started riding trials last year with some good friends and I absolutely am hooked! There is nothing like taking these bikes into the steep tight single track and rock walls, they climb anything!

This weekend I will also be out there on my new Beta 350 RR which has gotten amazing reviews and the Beta 450 just one the 450 shootout! Expect big things to come from Beta in the future!!!

In BC you can ride all year and I usually keep my trials bike out on hand for some winter riding, however I prefer to hit the snow with my sled and get some great skiing or powder riding in. Here is why!

Well this weekend we had a fantastic time up at Onion Lakes and had 3 epic days of wicked single-track. Unfortunately when we arrive at the top of Murray Peak on Adventure Trail we noticed someone had smashed two of the solar panels on the lookout repeater! WTF??? I am sure this was not dirt bikers however the area is really used by 4×4′rs, dirt bikers and quad and hunters. This is so dam sad! If you have any idea who this was please turn them in, it is stuff like this that gives us all a bad name….

Well I am at it, there was also a number of excessively loud bikes this weekend? Even a kids bike!? I guess you don’t want him hearing into grade school? There were also a number of riders pinning it by the camp sites at rock star speeds. I know these people are few and far between and usually have rocks between their ears but if your buddy has a loud bike then please ask him to quieten it up. More sound does not = more power and if you want to show us how fast you ride then do it in the trails where it shows your talent, all we need is one person hitting a kid or killing them self and we will all be looking for another place to ride! Paul White spend countless hours convincing people that this area is viable, just because there are trails there doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want! Rant Over!

Some Sweet Single track over three Days with awesome people! Wicked!!!

We hit Lytton this weekend again as we do most weekends and I was thoroughly disappointed! We have done a ton of work up there clearing trails and letting people know about this wonderful area and Paul White from West Coast Dirt Riders has put his heart and soul into this place and within 1/2 hour I had picked up a bag and a half of Garbage!

I know there has been a fire ban and it is hard when you can burn everything but come on guys pick up your crap and take it home! If you can’t manage yourself in the backcountry then really you should stay home in the city where your mom can pick up after you! Get it together guys!

On a more positive note Steve and I cleared about 30 downed trees off Double Time Over Time, Red Eye, Carburetor, Many Meadows and some of Axe Lips and 2cc! We had 3 days of awesome riding. Please get up and enjoy the riding but please pick up your garbage and for those of you who are stuck to the cancer sticks, aim your butts in the fire…the rest of us like to enjoy the back country, not pick up after you!

Last January Kim and I were enjoying an amazing winter day on Brohm Ridge! This is our winter paradise and on that day the sun was out and there was 2 feet of beautiful powder! The day was perfect until I lost my go pro camera and the footage in it. We dug through the powder but it was futile, I knew it was gone!

Although gone I knew I could get it back come spring when the snow started to melt. Well spring came with even more snow and I knew my plans for retrieval were going to have to wait.

Sunday August 28th I loaded up my new trials bike, runners and snow shoes and headed up to Brohm Ridge. There was still lots of snow up top but I was surprised that most of it had vanished and I made it right to the alpine. I knew the area where I had lost my camera and it was down a big gully. As I crested the first bowl I was amazed to see that although lost of snow still existed I could skirt around and make it down on my trials…perfect!

I used islands of land scattered throughout the land to work my way down and soon I was within 100 feet of the area I thought my camera was in. I parked my bike and dropped in by foot. I was shocked to see how different this land looked without any snow and thought for a moment that there was no way I would find my camera.

First I located a nice gatorade bottle that had no even been opened…it was hot so I cracked it…delicious. I searched for about 20 minutes when all of a sudden there it was, my camera, mission accomplished. I spent another hour cruising through the meadows and then down the road to enjoy lunch overlooking Squamish and met up with Tony, a good friend of mine, who was pumped to see I had a trials bike and he began to show and tell me of all the areas that there were sweet epic adventures to be had! I was grinning from ear to ear!

I have wanted to get a trials bike ever since I threw a leg over one about four years ago at Belcarra Park after my good friend Ted asked Kim and I to come out. Only a few months later I was back out at Ioco with Bob Clark who lent us newer trials bikes so that we could do an event. It was also wicked!

Fast forward to the summer of 2011 and after watching a few friends slay wicked terrain on their new trials bikes, I just had to take the plunge. Lucky for me, Ted was now selling one of his 2008 Sherco’s. I jumped at the chance and recently headed out for my first ride!

Anthony picked me up at 9 am in North Vancouver, we were heading to the town of Britannia some 33 minutes up the Sea 2 Sky corridor. It was sunny and warm and I was grinning from ear to ear. I had heard about the trials riding at Britannia and more so from mountain bikers who began poaching the Trials Trail known as Disneyland against Trials Riders wished some 10 years ago.

Anthony took me to an easier place first and the moment I hit the upward bound technical trail I was hooked. Trials bikes are quiet, are nimble and will go up anything thanks to their lightweight and 4 psi in the rear tire. They don’t skid or burn out so they are welcome anywhere which makes them the perfect adventure weapon!

After playing in a cool zone we made our way back to the car for a snack and up off to a cabin built up in the mountains towards Goat Ridge. The trails here are old but you would never know it from the sweet loam! Before long we were at this wicked cabin! Trials riders are a special breed, they do things differently and this cabin was awesome, complete with stove, and bunks, I definitely thought about moving up there!

Well my first day out exploring was amazing, thanks to Anthony for showing me the goods and a special thanks to Ted, another addiction to get excited about. Well for most the summer has not been up to par, however as I always say, you have to adapt to the weather cause it ain’t changing for you!

This past week instead of heading to our favorite kiting spot as per usual we headed up to Onion Lakes in Lytton BC. The weather has been ideal up there for roopin long loops on the moto. Three days of over 250 single track km’s was just perfect after a busy BC Bike Race Week! Check out the vid!
